Consumer Affairs Bulletin 2024-01: Mortgage Brokers Act – 2024 Mandatory Continuing Education

The Director of Mortgage Brokers has approved a mandatory 2024 New Brunswick Continuing Education Course for all Mortgage Brokers and Associates. The education will be available online starting 15 January 2024. 

Current and new licence holders under the Mortgage Brokers Act (the Act) are advised of the following:

Course Material Mortgage Professional Canada (MPC) is the approved education provider for the online 2024 Continuing Education Course, covering two topics:  Private Lending and Disclosures. Details and a link to the course can be found on the MPC website.
Who must complete the course?

All licensed Brokers and Associates holding a licence issued before 15 January 2024 must complete the 2024 New Brunswick Continuing Education course by 31  March 2024

Failure to provide the certificate of completion before 1 April 2024 will result in an automatic licence suspension pursuant to paragraph 18(3)(d) of the Act. The suspension will remain in effect until the certificate of completion is received. 
 

What do I do after I complete the course? You must forward a copy of your certificate of completion to mortgage.licensing@fcnb.ca upon successfully completing the Continuing Education Course. 
New Licensees

Any licensee issued a licence on or after 15 January 2024 must complete the Continuing Education course within three (3) months from the date their licence is issued

Failure to report their continuing education within this time will result in an automatic licence suspension pursuant to paragraph 18(3)(d) of the Act. The suspension will remain in effect until the certificate of completion is received.
